Charging curves

FINDINGS
1. The behavior is substantially identical with the 50 kW and 100 kW stations.
2. Under ideal battery temperature conditions, the power is ramped between 0% and 70% charge level.
3. From 70%, the power does not exceed 22 kW.
4. Frequently the battery is not at the ideal temperature to reach the upper stage.

RECOMMENDATIONS
1. Give preference to 50 kW stations. Charging is possible on a 100 kW station but not recommended.
2. In winter, in order to take advantage of the optimal winter charging curve, go to the charging station with a battery as warm as possible:
preheat the battery before setting off or drive as long as possible to reach a thick headed.
3. Stop charging if possible before reaching 70% charge level.

Charging the 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Electric at Electric Circuit charging stations:

FINDINGS – 100 kW STATIONS

The 2019 model year benefits from more than 50 kW of charging power. It makes sense to use the 100 kW stations.
1. When the battery is at optimum temperature, charging power will gradually increase from 65kW to 68kW, up to a charge level of approximately 70%.
2. In cold weather, the performance gap is such that most of the charging is done at less than 50 kW of power on a 100 kW station.
3. From 70%, the power drops rapidly, to reach the charging curve with a 50 kW station, at a charge level of 78%.

RECOMMENDATIONS
1. In winter, in order to take advantage of the optimal winter charging curve, go to the 100 kW station with a battery as warm as possible:
preheat the battery before setting off or drive as long as possible to reach a station.
2. Stop charging at around 70% with a 100 kW station, and around 78% with a 50 kW station.
3. The use of a 100 kW station is quite advantageous for this car, except in winter. If the charge level does not exceed 70%, the charging time is 20% to 30%
less than with a 50 kW charging station. However in winter we suggest the use of a 50 kW charging station.
